Not too long ago, AltaVista ranked among the most powerful; it's now been usurped by Google. But once you understand how to use AltaVista's advanced search features, you successfully locate all kinds of information.
For the purposes of this tutorial we are using a mock version of AltaVista and its results pages. Please note that since we developed this tutorial AltaVista has changed its look and some capabilities, but the underlying search principles remain valid.
